Astronauts on the International Space Station take pictures of Earth out their windows nearly every day; over a year that adds up to thousands of photos. The people at the Earth Science and Remote Sensing Unit at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston pored through this year’s crop to pick the top 16 photos of Earth for 2016—enjoy!

Elusive Snow Leopard Of The Himalayas – Planet Earth II

Linen: in your shirt, your porridge & your garden

Most people’s favorite natural fiber is cotton which is, actually, lousy by at least one measure: it is water-loving (“hydrophilic”). Cotton soaks and holds the moisture from your body, which is why sports companies sell you synthetic gym clothes.

Linen, on the other hand, is perfect for “breathing” and wicking moisture away from your body.

But that is not all: linen seeds are super nutritious and so is linen oil, which is also perfect for nourishing your wood table.

The linen plant also shines in the garden, with hundreds of blue flowers blooming continuously from early spring to autumn. And it is super easy to grow. Check it out!

Jane’s Message for World Elephant Day

Today is World Elephant Day and I am thinking of the magical times when I have been privileged to watch wild elephants in different places in Africa. How wonderful it was to see them feeding, using their trunks like hands to pick leaves overhead, or tear up lush green grass in great bunches, then push the food into their mouths. And special times when I watched them bathing in a river, sucking up trunk fulls of water and squirting it over their backs, sometimes submerging with just the tips of their trunks showing like periscopes above the water. And what fun the young elephants have playing in the water, squirting each other and messing about like kids in a swimming pool.

Whoever did this littered. Littering in the environment is no good because in can hurt the animals that live in it.  A lot of people litter because they are lazy or do not want to properly dispose of garbage. It is like they think they are the only ones who live on earth. Littering also ruins the beauty of the environment . The park where my Dad took this picture is beautiful, but the Television in the lake kind of ruins it. We should take care of the planet by disposing of garbage appropriately.
